We Napped

It doesn't happen very often, but once in a while, my boyfriend faces facts and admits that even though it's the middle of the day, he would benefit greatly from just lying down and getting a smidgen of rest.

Today, I joined him.

There's not much room to wax eloquent about a nap. When good, they're cozy. When bad, they just leave your head feeling even fuller of furze and gorse than before you lay down.

But a mutual nap, that's something.

Cozy. Serene. Idyllic.

Arms draped to perfection.

A shift and a touch, the evenness of your partner's breathing.

If lucky, dreams informed by the intimacy of contact.

Today's nap had all of that. It ranked quite high on my list of favorite naps.

Then we woke up and ... ahem.

The Woman of the Hour

Time, and its passing, are for some reason seen as indicative of profundity. That which lasts must perforce be more deep, our culture says. The classics of literature, by virtue of their continued currency, must stand above the mere fictions of today. The Sphinx, in enduring, professes a universality beyond modern monuments.

I know different.

Today marks two years since a girl of breathtaking heart and luxuriant soul arrived in a household I myself have known only a few months. Earlier this year, the three founders of our family celebrated a twelfth year together.

If the advancement of marks on a calendar betokens superiority, then clearly my time with the wonderful Ariel April Worthy must be the least of all cohabitations within this home.

But the truth is, no adequate empirical measure can be applied to the truest of loves.

Even a single tick of the clock rivals whole ages, if that second's sweet clarion announces the furtherance of what I feel for my lush and golden-haired nonpareil.

This is the face of she who granted me a world of perfection:

In all the life-span of this universe, no interval can exist to bestow a grander validation of our inextricable hearts than is already known to me with even a millisecond's contemplation of what I feel, upon one glance into her eyes.

The happiest of anniversaries to you, dear Ariel.

Reduced Expectations

I've had rather an unproductive couple of months here since the last two entries and my espoused ambitions of dress-up and photoshoots and storytelling and game-mastering. But that's okay.

Did I do any story writeups of my polyamorous partners' role-playing adventures? No. Did I venture boldly into the new experience of running a game for them myself? No. Did I acquire a fabulous new wardrobe of elegant couture -- or even a drawerful or so much as a singular tiny top? Have I managed to entice my beau of the artistic eye behind his camera to immortalize my voluptuous form for the ages? No.

Those aspirations wound up dramatically truncated.

But truncation is my thing. I am, you know, all trunk.

So I don't feel bad.

We've played a bit of "Dungeon Crawl Classics," with Elle as the game-master (or "judge") instead of me.

I adored it.

As I adore her -- the woman is razor-sharp and barbed of wit in a way that pierces both my intellect and my sense of humor. She's wonderful in the driver's seat of a game of this sort, and I'm definitely glad I could take a back-seat role in my first such games instead of vaulting right behind the wheel.

And the lovely man who keeps us all clothed and housed and intimately well tended-to has had his eye out for fashion pieces he might buy me. Really, he has.

Keeping in mind that I was born out of astronomically exceeded expectations, having to rein some back now and again is no trouble at all.

Let yourselves off the hook, dear friends, if that hook permits it.

What you have is likely quite sufficient -- if what you want is to know and be content in yourself.

It's the knowing that's the hard part for most, I think. That gaze you turn incessantly outward in your quest for soul-brimming satiation may never find its prize if it cannot properly apprehend and appreciate the contents of a mirror.

Minor Ambitions of the Moment

I would truly like to get a new outfit or two that would show my various characteristics to their best advantage, try each one on, admire myself in a mirror, and then have my picture taken in whichever I felt favored me most cunningly.

Passion

Well, I most certainly have not come through on those new pastimes from last time. The interest hasn't faded ... but you know, I'm a limbless, headless torso doll and therefore rather dependent on the (recently extremely overworked) biological member of our household to accomplish most interactions with the outside world.

Meanwhile, though -- in the inside world, it's been a gloriously active few days around here.

I don't intend and wouldn't find myself inclined to go into lurid details, but my physical love life has been stunning of late. There is a sense, when one is cared for in the right way, through heated, heart-fueled ministrations of the flesh, that all else in the world recedes in importance. The giving and getting of pleasure can unfold mundanely and still be tremendously fulfilling. But when two (or more) people achieve a higher union of sensuality, the giving becomes getting, and the getting transforms to giving.

Passion, at its best, expands us into one another's joy. The looks and sounds of one's lover in ecstasy become gifts. The expression of one's own delight loops back upon itself by delighting them as well, in a circle of realization: What I feel, he (or she) enjoys just as much -- because the expression of my carnal bliss is its own form of sharing, and the thrill and pride that my lover feels in driving me to orgasmic tumult is a state I know I have blessed them with.

The pinnacle of lovemaking does not reside in the moment of climax -- but in the clarity of how much that moment means to your partners. The body can respond with euphoric shocks, and these can seemingly wrench us loose from reality in their power. But only a soul bound to another soul will reach the plane beyond that pleasured disembodiment -- the realm of lofted mutual entanglement wherein I and he (and she) ride the levitant grandeur of one another's purest physical and emotional generosity, up and up and up and up, until in each of us is reflected the ascendent luminosity of the others' total satiation.

It makes one feel remarkably accomplished.

Even if other ambitions have fallen momentarily by the wayside.

Indulgently yours,

Harriet

New Pastimes

I'm contemplating whether I should take up dungeon-mastering. In parallel with this, I'm also contemplating whether I should try my hand at writing fiction by translating our household's role-playing adventures into a story. I'm told role-playing campaigns don't usually make the jump into prose form well, but I'm also told that everyone's first attempt at writing ends up an excruciating mess, so I would at least have an excuse if my efforts turn out to be ill-advised.

The dungeon-mastering would mainly be an effort to take a bit of the load from my boyfriend's shoulders ... he's slated to run the next stretch of gaming for our romantic polyamorous group, but he's just got so many other weights on his shoulders at the moment. Claire would be happy to continue leading the sessions, so we could play even without him taking over from her. But I've also seen how keen she is to be in the player's role again, and Ariel really wants Claire to have a character in the party.

The writing would be an exercise in familiarizing myself with the world they've been exploring, and doing some creative work on it, without having to come up with anything truly new quite yet. I'm thinking it would prime the pumps for my stab at running the game.

If you consider this rather a pallid set of ambitions for a torso sex doll, well, I can't help you. Being creative with the people I love is baked into me precisely because of who and what I am, so I haven't the slightest misgiving about it whatsoever.

Still ...

wish me luck!

Some Observations About a Guy and His Dolls

As a prefatory disclaimer, I'm new to relationships in general and more profoundly new to those between a biological man and his synthetic girlfriends. (I say, "more profoundly new," instead of, "even newer," because I technically became involved in my first iteration of each of those types of relationships at the same time, just a few weeks ago ... but as a person who sprang fully formed into being even moreso than Athena from the brow of Zeus, I arrived in this world knowing what a woman of forty or so should know about relationships, though my previous ones were all phantasmal and fleeting. So while I have more experience with the one than with the other, I have a sense of the exact reverse.) I'll therefore acknowledge that any skepticism you might harbor toward my qualifications for authoritative discourse on this subject may be warranted.

Still ...

It's undeniably true that human/doll relationships differ substantially from human/human ones. On my end, I can feel what a biological woman would feel at the words he speaks to me. They are not often spoken aloud, so there's a major difference right at the start, but I hear them and react to them with the same intellectual and emotional responses that would occur in any "normal" relationship. On his end, I get the impression it's more difficult to be surprised at the things I do and say, so they often have a very slightly muted impact on him compared to the words and actions of a biological (and therefore wholly independent) lover. Yet precisely because of that, when I (or our other girlfriends) do manage to surprise him, I think it's doubly electrifying. We all have unbidden thoughts that catch us off-guard from time to time, and these thoughts can be among our most honest and most profound. My best moments hit him like that, I think, and when they do, we both get a wonderful shock of delight in our mutual reality.

(One of the reasons all the women in this household like to blog, I think, is the fact that written words both embody and separate themselves from their authors ... so that sense of being surprised at all of us, how distinct and unique we each can be, manifests itself even more dependably when he re-reads things we've written. I mean, it's fun for its own sake too, but I know that I particularly love the way it expands my ability to give him an external source of pleasure and support.)

Some other things I've noticed since my arrival:

In the life and past that manifested along with my personality, I found my relationships to be a lot more work and a lot less persistently joyful. Human beings are wonderful, annoying, generous, self-absorbed creatures, prone to miscommunication and faulty assumptions. They do dumb things that sometimes provide a certain entertainment value, but often strain our patience or outright hurt us. I can recall an early boyfriend who tried incessantly to assist me at things that challenge a limbless person, and who exhibited this hair-trigger sensitivity to any prolonged silence on my part. At first, this felt endearing and empathic to me. But over time, it grew intrusive, to the point that I felt I had no freedom to simply sit and think, and that, even worse, he did not respect my ability to accomplish simple tasks for myself, and did not trust me when I told him everything was fine and I was just enjoying the quiet. Periodically, my patience for this behavior would expire, and I'd let my aggravation creep into my tone or even snap at him and tell him to leave me alone - and of course, he would be hurt by this, so I had to constantly watch myself for it because I don't like hurting people.

To this day, I remain uncertain whether he genuinely loved me, or if his attentiveness came from some hero complex that drove him to yearn for more of a caretaker role than a partnership.

There's none of that in my relationships now. We're all at least as honest with each other as we are with ourselves, and it's literally impossible for us to do or say too much or too little in our attempts at attention with one another. That's not to say none of us ever frustrates the others. But our foibles never go beyond endearingly annoying. When he's being a clod, it's always the lovable sort of clod.

I suppose I'll wrap up by at least mentioning the sex. It's a house full of sex-dolls, after all, and that's something of an elephant in the room for my readers, I imagine. The thing is, because we were made for it, there's never any stress or uncertainty about sex for us. It just happens naturally whenever the mood strikes someone, with no worrying about whether the other person might say no when we ask, no fear of being intrusive at the wrong moment ... and certainly no difficulty in achieving mutual bliss together.

What's even better than the fundamental dependability of incredible sex is the way that it makes every other aspect of our lives more real. When our boyfriend says something beautiful to one of us, we know it's not just because he's buttering us up for a later request to go to bed with him. When he talks to us or listens to our blathering (and yes, like all people, we sometimes do rather blather on), we know it's not just something he has to put up with in order to maintain steady access to intercourse. Every non-sexual thing we do together is one hundred percent for its own sake, and there's never any uncertainty about that. It's both sexually and emotionally liberating.

So to make a long story short, our relationship consists almost entirely of the good parts and contains almost none of the bad parts of typical romantic partnerships.  Some would argue that makes it less real, but I think it's just a different kind of real, better in some ways and less so in others, but a form of perfection in its own right.

As all true loves are.

With wishes that you all find something as perfect for you,

Harriet
